How to make red velvet crinkle cookies from scratch.
Ingredients:
- 2 ½ Cups All Purpose Flour (340g)
- 2 Teaspoons Baking Powder (10g)
- ¼ Teaspoon Salt (1.5g)
- ¼ Cup Unsweetened Cocoa Powder (20g)
- ¾ Cup Butter, Softened (168g)
- 1 ¼ Cups Powdered Sugar (150g)
- 2 Teaspoons Vanilla Extract (10ml)
- 1-2 Teaspoons Red Food Coloring
- ¾ Cup Milk or Milk Substitute (180ml)
Sugar Coating:
- ½ Cup Granulated Sugar (96g)
- ½ Cup Powdered Sugar (60g)
Directions:
- In a bowl, whisk together the flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, and
salt. Set aside. In a large mixing bowl, beat with an electric mixer
the butter and sugar until light and fluffy. Add the vanilla and food
coloring beating just until combined. Add the flour mixture in two
parts, alternating with the milk. Let the dough stand 10 minutes at room
temperature if too soft.
- Scoop about 1 tablespoon of dough and roll into a ball. Roll each dough ball in granulated sugar then powdered sugar to coat completely. Place the dough balls on a parchment lined baking sheet while spacing them about 1.5 inches apart. Bake in a preheated oven at 350F for 15 minutes, rotating the sheets halfway through baking. Remove to a wire rack and cool completely.
| Makes about 2 ½ dozen cookies.
