How to Make Irish Soda Bread | Irish Soda Bread Recipe

Learn how to make an easy Irish Soda Bread from scratch.

Ingredients:

  • 2 Cups All Purpose Flour (272g)

  • 3 Teaspoons Baking Powder (15g)

  • 1/4 Teaspoon Salt (1.5g)

  • 1/4 Cup Sugar (48g)

  • 1/4 Cup Cold Butter, Cubed (56g)

  • 1/2 Cup Raisins or Currants (2oz.)/(56.6g)

  • 3/4 Cup Milk (180ml)

Directions:

  1. In a large mixing bowl, sift together the flour, baking powder, salt, and sugar. Using your fingertips, rub in the butter into the flour mixture until it resembles cornmeal. Stir in the raisins. Add the milk and blend until a soft dough forms.

  2. Place on a parchment lined baking sheet. Lightly dust with flour and score an 'X' with a knife on the dough's surface. Bake in a preheated oven at 400F for about 40-45 minutes or until the surface is golden brown and an inserted toothpick comes out clean. Cool completely on a wire rack.
