DIY Colorful Christmas Wreath Tutorial | Christmas Decorations

Learn how to make a colorful Christmas Wreath using a few budget friendly materials. 🎄⛄

Materials:

  • Red Wired Edged Ribbon

  • Red & Green Pom Poms

  • Cardboard

  • Red Paint

  • Box Cutter/Scissors

  • Hot Glue

  • Paint Brush

Directions:

  1. On a piece of cardboard, mark the edges and center point of the wreath ring using a ruler. (Mark at 1,5, and 10 inches.) Next mark 2.5 inches from the edge of the ring (10in. mark). Use these marks to create and outer and inner circle. You can use a compass or a round object to trace around. The largest circle will measure 10 inches in diameter and the smallest, 5 inches in diameter. (However, you can make the wreath ring as big or small as you want.) Cut out the ring and repeat the process with another piece of cardboard so that you have two wreath rings of the same size.

  2. Using a bit of glue, attach both rings together. Next, paint the rings red making sure to cover both sides and along the edges. Let dry.

  3. To make the bow, measure ribbon against the wreath to calculate how big you want it. (This bow is 5 to 6 inches long.) Mark the length by making a fold. Then fold the ribbon over itself as many times as you want depending on how many loops you want the bow to have. (10 folds=10 loops) Make sure to keep the layers straight. Cut the ribbon once you finish folding. Mark the center of the bow by making a small fold. Cut into the ribbon at these marks at an angle and only about 1/3 of the way in. Insert a wire into these slits and twist close at the back of the bow. To add tails, cut a piece of ribbon of the desired length, fold at the center. At the ends, fold at the center again lengthwise, then cut in at an angle. Place the center of the ribbon on the wire at the back of the bow, and twist close again. To form the bow, pull each loop out and shape to where you want it to be. Cut off any excess ribbon.

  4. Attach the pom poms to the wreath base in any pattern. Make sure to cover the inner and outer edges with pom poms as well. Leave an empty space at the bottom of the wreath where the bow will be placed.

  5. Attach the bow to the wreath. Let the wreath dry completely before hanging.
