This week we are making and taste testing a recipe for the Original Oreo Milkshake. Why original? Well, this recipe comes directly from the Oreo cookie box, so it’s safe to say that it was especially made for Oreos. I have always wondered if the recipes that come on the boxes of our favorite snacks were actually good. This is why I decided to start a new series on my channel to test and review these recipes. So, next time you pick up a box of cookies, you’ll have more options on what delicious treats to make.
The Oreo Milkshake we made is something you can get together very quick and doesn’t need many ingredients.
You will need:
- 4 Teaspoons Chocolate Syrup
- 8 Oreo Cookies, Divided
- 1 1/2 Cups 2% Milk
- 2 Cups Vanilla Ice Cream
*Makes about 4 servings.
- Spoon 1 teaspoon of chocolate syrup into each of 4 glasses, coating the bottom. Finely chop 4 cookies, set aside.
- Place the ice cream, milk, and 4 remaining cookies in a blender and process until smooth.
- Pour milkshake into prepared glasses and top with chopped cookies. Serve immediately.
At first glance, I honestly thought this milkshake wasn’t going to taste very chocolaty. For the video, I only made half the recipe, which means only 2 cookies were going into the milkshake itself. I wondered if I should add any more cookies, but decided not too since I am testing the original recipe. In the end, the shake was delicious! The syrup helped it along in flavor and the cookie topping gave it a very nice texture. Everything went well with the vanilla ice cream of course. In my opinion, I wish the serving sizes were bigger though. I had prepared two glasses, but ended up being able to fill only one to the top. That is just my taste of course, maybe to someone else smaller portions might be better because of its sweetness. 😉
