Delicious and healthy is something that I’m always looking for in food, especially when it has to do with breakfast. After all, we all have at some point heard how important the first meal of the day is. It’s the one thing that will give you a burst of energy to start your day and keep you going. Which is why getting in your fruits and veggies at this time is a must!

Even if you aren’t the type to rush off to the gym first thing in the morning, having a healthy beverage can help you in many ways. The blueberries in this smoothie, for example, are packed with antioxidants. And both blueberries and bananas are a good source of potassium, which is known for helping control blood pressure and enhancing your metabolism. Bananas are also a go-to fruit if an energy boost is what you are looking for. They are made up of simple sugars that will give you  a quick burst energy when eaten.

All together, fruit smoothies are a great way to start off your day or to help you beat that mid-afternoon slump. Instead of reaching out for a soda, experiment with your favorite fruits and come up with your own smoothie combination!

Ingredients:
  • 1/2 Cup Blueberries
  • 1 Banana
  • 1 Cup Milk or Substitute (eg., Almond Milk, Coconut Milk)
  • 1 Teaspoon Honey
Directions:
  1.  In a blender, combine the blueberries, banana, milk, and honey. Process until smooth. Serve and enjoy!
